SB39 amends Hawaii Revised Statutes to integrate voter registration or pre-registration into the enrollment or course registration process for eligible students at all public high schools. The Department of Education will collect and transmit necessary voter registration information to county clerks, election officials, and the online voter registration system if the student chooses to register or make changes. The department will not transmit information if the student declines to register or make changes, or if the student lacks U.S. citizenship.
