Hawaii SB2830 amends the statute of limitations for prosecuting certain offenses. It allows prosecution for fraud, deception, breach of fiduciary obligation, or medical assistance fraud within three years after discovery. For misconduct by a public servant, prosecution can occur within ten years after the offense or the end of public employment, whichever is later. Prosecution for felony offenses involving DNA evidence can occur within ten years from the expiration of the initial period, if a DNA test is performed before the initial period ends.
