Hawaii SB2519 amends law enforcement training requirements and certification standards.

Hawaii SB2519 amends the Hawaii Revised Statutes to update law enforcement training and certification requirements. Effective July 1, 2028, new law enforcement officers must complete a basic training program and receive training on minimizing excessive force. The board will issue certifications to those who meet these requirements. The bill also repeals certain statutory material and takes effect upon approval.
