This bill amends Hawaii law to exempt state projects from county building permit, inspection, and certificate of occupancy requirements when they comply with applicable building codes or county, national, or occupancy requirements. State projects include any work or improvement of state lands by a state agency. The exemption does not relieve state projects from state and county laws, ordinances, rules, and regulations regarding construction, operation, and maintenance. State agencies responsible for exempt projects must not apply for county building permits.
