Hawaii SB1477 amends Chapter 266 of the Hawaii Revised Statutes to add a new section providing limited liability for individuals who render firefighting services at commercial harbors. This protection extends to those who respond to a reasonable command from a known firefighter at commercial harbors, roadsteads, or waterfront improvements controlled by the state, as well as on vessels within these areas. The bill exempts these individuals from civil damages, except in cases of gross negligence or wanton acts or omissions. This Act will take effect upon approval.
