Allows pharmacists to oversee prescription filling via telehealth for medically underserved patients.
This bill amends Hawaii Revised Statutes to allow registered pharmacists under contract with a covered entity to oversee the filling or receipt of prescriptions via telehealth for medically underserved patients. The pharmacist must not be located at the facility, and the covered entity must have a pharmacy license for that facility. The bill also clarifies that prescriptions may not be filled, compounded, or received by telephone and no drugs shall be sold in the absence of the pharmacist. The changes take effect upon approval.
