Prohibits University of Hawaii employees from serving on the Board of Regents to prevent conflicts of interest.

This bill amends the Hawaii Revised Statutes to prohibit active employees of the University of Hawaii and the Research Corporation of the University of Hawaii from serving on the Board of Regents. The legislature finds that such appointments may create conflicts of interest, compromise the impartiality of decisions, and erode public trust. The board consists of eleven members appointed by the governor and confirmed by the senate. Members serve five-year terms, with a limit of two consecutive terms.
