Hawaii SB1 aims to protect Hawaii's agricultural resources by prohibiting certain foreign parties from owning, purchasing, or acquiring ownership of or an interest in agricultural lands. Prohibited foreign parties include those subject to International Traffic in Arms regulations, foreign governments, and entities designated by the U.S. Department of State. Resident aliens are exempt. The bill establishes an Office of Agricultural Intelligence within the Department of Agriculture to monitor and enforce these restrictions.
