Hawaii HB798 amends wastewater management regulations to prohibit the discharge of treated wastewater or raw sewage into state waters after December 31, 2026. This prohibition does not apply to sewage treatment plants that produce clean energy or have a treatment capacity of less than ten million gallons per day. The bill also ensures that the use of reclaimed or recycled water for beneficial purposes remains lawful. The changes take effect upon approval of the Act.
