Hawaii HB711 amends Chapter 706 of the Hawaii Revised Statutes to mandate financial support for minor children of victims of driving under the influence causing death. If a defendant is convicted of such a violation, the court must order a payment plan to cover any arrearage. Payments continue until the entire arrearage is paid. If the defendant is incarcerated, they have up to one year after release to begin payments.
