Participants can work for up to 120 months, with a maximum tenure of 35 years. Enrollment ceases if an officer cannot continue as an active police officer for more than 20 working days, excluding vacation days. Participants accrue sick and vacation leave credits, with vacation leave paid into their deferred retirement option program account upon termination.
