Exempts certain repairs and remodeling from building permit requirements in Hawaii.

This bill amends Hawaii law to exempt specific types of repairs and remodeling from the requirement to obtain a county building permit. Exempted are repairs that replace existing work with like-for-like materials, group U occupancies not exceeding 1,000 square feet, and interior remodeling that does not change building square footage or room count. Owners or occupiers must notify the county agency of certain work, and the county agency must certify the work within 30 days. The bill does not exempt new or existing buildings from floodplain management requirements.
