Hawaii HB222 modifies the definition of "employee" in the Wage and Hour Law to exclude individuals employed at a guaranteed compensation of $4,000 or more a month, those in agriculture with fewer than twenty employees, drivers of vehicles carrying passengers for hire, golf caddies, students employed by nonprofit schools, seasonal youth camp staff, automobile salespersons, and those primarily engaged in the range production of livestock. The bill also excludes those working in domestic service, providing companionship services, as house parents, or employed by family members.
