Hawaii HB2080 amends Hawaii Revised Statutes to enable the temporary reemployment of retired public employees in positions identified as unique and critical to government operations. This includes roles such as teachers in shortage areas, mentors for new classroom teachers, and positions identified as labor shortages or difficult-to-fill. Rehired retirants must not have been employed by the State or a county in the twelve months prior to reemployment and must not have agreements for post-retirement reemployment. Reemployment is limited to a total of four years.
