Modernizes the emergency medical services special fund in Hawaii to ensure fiscal sustainability and accountability.
This bill updates the emergency medical services special fund in Hawaii to align with modern revenue-based funding mechanisms. It authorizes the deposit of billable emergency medical services revenues into the special fund, ensuring funds are reinvested directly into emergency medical services activities. The fund will consist of at least 50% of emergency medical services revenue, fees, cigarette tax revenues, interest, legislative appropriations, and grants. Unencumbered funds exceeding $45,000,000 will lapse to the general fund.
