HB1753

Relating To Social Media.

Final Passage·5/8/26

Hawaii HB1753 mandates social media platforms to provide users with a clear method to delete their accounts and personal information.

Hawaii HB1753, known as the Hawaii Social Media Data Deletion Act, requires certain social media platforms to offer users a clear, accessible method to delete their accounts and personal information. These platforms must erase all personal information within 45 days of a confirmed deletion request, unless state or federal law requires otherwise. The Act also prohibits platforms from designing user interfaces or processes that obscure, delay, or make account deletion more difficult.
