The bill also allows these employees to hire their own attorneys at their own expense. If the attorney general declines to defend an employee, they must work with the employee to transfer representation to the employee's chosen counsel. If an amicable transfer cannot be made, the attorney general must file a confidential motion to withdraw from representation.
