Establishes procedures for landlords to follow when notified of bed bug infestations and requires landlords to disclose known infestations before.
The bill mandates that landlords inspect for bed bugs before renting a unit and disclose any known infestations to prospective tenants. If a tenant notifies the landlord of a suspected infestation within 60 days of lease commencement or 30 days of an infestation in an adjoining unit, the landlord must investigate and remediate the infestation at their cost. If the notification is later, the landlord and tenant share the remediation costs. The landlord must also notify the Department of Health and maintain records of all notices and control measures taken.
