Establishes cardiac emergency response plans and CPR/AED training in Hawaii public schools.
Starting with the 2025-2026 school year, this bill mandates that all public elementary, middle, intermediate, and high schools in Hawaii establish a cardiac emergency response plan. The plan must include evidence-based standards and core elements, such as establishing a response team, activating the team during cardiac events, placing and maintaining AEDs, and training staff in first aid, CPR, and AED use. The plan must be provided to teachers and placed at appropriate locations throughout the school campus.
