Allows certain retirees to be reemployed without losing benefits.
This bill amends Hawaii law to allow certain retirees to be reemployed without losing their retirement benefits. Specifically, retirees can be reemployed as elective officers, jurors, precinct officials, part-time or temporary employees, or in positions identified as labor shortages. The bill also requires the appropriate jurisdiction to contribute to the pension fund to cover the unfunded liability. The changes take effect on July 1, 2025.
