Florida S1116 amends Florida Statutes to reclassify penalties for crimes if they evidence prejudice based on the victim's race, color, ancestry, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, national origin, homeless status, or disability. A misdemeanor of the second degree becomes a first degree misdemeanor, a first degree misdemeanor becomes a third degree felony, and so on, up to a life felony for first degree felonies. The bill also defines "disabled adult" and "homeless status" and takes effect July 1, 2026.
