Florida H0851 amends the state statute to require the State Board of Education to adopt rules implementing a new requirement for K-12 teachers. Specifically, teachers who instruct classes with at least 50% of students diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder must hold an Autism Spectrum Disorder Endorsement. The rules may allow exceptions for teachers who hold an Endorsement in Severe or Profound Disabilities, have taught autistic students for at least three years, and have been rated highly effective in the preceding three-year period. This act takes effect July 1, 2026.
