This bill amends Florida Statutes to increase the statutory limits on liability for tort claims against the state and its agencies and subdivisions. It authorizes a subdivision of the state to settle a claim in excess of the statutory limit without further action by the Legislature, regardless of insurance coverage limits. The bill also prohibits an insurance policy from conditioning payment of benefits on the enactment of a claim bill. It specifies whether the individual treated is later found to be ineligible.
