S.985

Prohibits U.S. entities integral to national interests from complying with foreign sustainability due diligence regulations.

The PROTECT USA Act of 2025 aims to prevent U.S. entities integral to national interests from complying with foreign sustainability due diligence regulations. These entities include businesses deriving significant revenue from extraction, production, or manufacturing. The Act prohibits compliance with regulations like the EU's Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive, except for ordinary business activities. It allows entities to petition the President for hardship exemptions. Violators face civil penalties and ineligibility for federal contracts.
