PLASMA Act phases in discounts for plasma-derived drugs under Medicare Part D.
The PLASMA Act, or Preserving Life-saving Access to Specialty Medicines in America Act, amends the Social Security Act to phase in discounts for plasma-derived drugs under the Medicare Part D manufacturer discount program. The bill defines "plasma-derived product" as a biological product derived from human whole blood or plasma. It sets a "specified plasma-derived product percent" for the negotiated price of these drugs, gradually reducing the discount from 99% in 2026 to 80% by 2032 and beyond.
