It increases the monthly dependency and indemnity compensation for surviving spouses and modifies the requirements for compensation for survivors of veterans rated totally disabled at the time of death. The changes include setting the compensation amount at 55 percent of the rate of monthly compensation and adjusting the payment for those with a continuous rating period of less than 10 years.
