The BEST Facilitation Act establishes a pilot program for image technician positions in the U.S. Customs and Border Protection Office of Field Operations. Image Technician 1 and Image Technician 2 positions will be created, filled by existing employees, and assigned to regional command centers. Technicians will review non-intrusive inspection images, recommend releases or further inspections, and report anomalies to the National Targeting Center. Supervisory officers will receive additional training.
