The Honoring Fallen Wildland Firefighters Act of 2026 establishes a death gratuity for Federal wildland firefighters killed in the line of duty. The gratuity is paid to the surviving spouse, children, parents, or siblings of the firefighter. The amount is equal to the maximum death gratuity payable under existing law. The bill also allows the firefighter to designate another individual to receive a portion of the gratuity. The gratuity is in addition to any other compensation.
