The bill establishes a student loan forgiveness plan for borrowers employed at a qualified farm or ranch. Eligible borrowers include beginning farmers, those from underrepresented populations, socially disadvantaged farmers, and veteran farmers. To qualify, borrowers must make 120 monthly payments on their eligible Federal Direct Loans and be employed full-time or part-time as an employee or manager of a qualified farm or ranch. The Secretary of Education will cancel the balance of interest and principal due on the borrower's eligible Federal Direct Loan after the employment period.
