S.4908

Gas Money Saved Act

Introduced·6/24/26

Gas Money Saved Act requires reevaluation of fuel economy standards if gas prices rise faster than inflation.

The Gas Money Saved Act mandates the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to initiate a process to reevaluate corporate average fuel economy standards if gasoline prices increase at least five times faster than overall inflation over a period of 180 days or longer. This reevaluation is triggered after the enactment of the Act or the most recent adjustment of the standards. The Act also restores penalties for noncompliance with fuel economy standards.
