The Do Not Interfere in our Intelligence Act of 2026, or DNII Act of 2026, addresses the handling of vacancies in the Director of National Intelligence position. It specifies that the Principal Deputy Director of National Intelligence, appointed by the President with Senate consent, shall act for the Director during absences or vacancies. If all Senate-confirmed offices within the Office of the Director of National Intelligence are vacant, the President can temporarily direct an individual to perform the Director's functions and duties.
