Jobs and Opportunities for Medicaid Act proposes work requirements for able-bodied adults in Medicaid programs.
The Jobs and Opportunities for Medicaid Act amends the Social Security Act to establish a minimum work requirement for able-bodied adults enrolled in state Medicaid programs. Effective January 1, 2026, states must not provide medical assistance to an able-bodied adult who does not meet the work requirement for a given month. The work requirement includes working or volunteering 20 hours per week on average, or participating in a drug or alcohol treatment and rehabilitation program.
