Increases penalties for assaulting Bureau of Prisons correctional officers.

The Safer Prisons Act of 2026 amends the federal criminal code to double the maximum term of imprisonment for assaulting a Bureau of Prisons correctional officer. The bill also adjusts the maximum fine accordingly. This change applies to any violation of the specified section against a correctional officer of the Bureau of Prisons.
