Support our Firefighters Act provides rest and recuperation leave for wildland firefighters.
The Support our Firefighters Act amends title 5, United States Code, to provide rest and recuperation leave for employees engaged in wildland firefighting. It allows covered employees to receive paid rest and recuperation leave following deployment to a qualifying incident, with no payment for unused leave. The Secretaries of Agriculture and the Interior will jointly prescribe policies for this leave, including a minimum number of rest days after deployment. The Act also waives overtime caps for wildland firefighters.
