Establishes a pilot program in U.S. Customs and Border Protection to adopt and train shelter dogs as support dogs.
The PEARL Act mandates the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) to initiate a pilot program within 60 days of enactment. This program will involve adopting dogs from local shelters to train them as support dogs for CBP's Support Canine Program. The pilot program will run for three years from its establishment.
