Establishes the AmeriCorps Administration to carry out national and volunteer service programs.
The ACTION for National Service Act establishes the AmeriCorps Administration to carry out national and volunteer service programs. The Act creates an Advisory Board to advise the Director of the Administration. It authorizes appropriations for national service programs and educational awards. The Act also establishes a National Service Foundation to encourage private gifts for the benefit of the Administration and its activities. The Act includes provisions for the exclusion of national service educational awards and living allowances from gross income.
