Establishes a congressional time capsule to commemorate the semiquincentennial of the United States.
The Semiquincentennial Congressional Time Capsule Act mandates the creation of a congressional time capsule, to be buried in the Capitol Visitor Center by July 4, 2026. The Architect of the Capitol is responsible for its creation and burial, with consultation from the Secretary of the Smithsonian Institution and other federal entities. The capsule, not exceeding 50 inches wide, 32 inches deep, and 48 inches high, will contain a joint letter from congressional leadership and other items deemed appropriate. The contents must be made of durable materials, avoiding those that degrade easily.
