Establishes a grant program for hiring prosecutors, prioritizing rehiring and training.
The Helping Improve Recruitment and Retention Efforts for Prosecutors Act of 2025 establishes a grant program for hiring prosecutors. The Attorney General will award grants to prosecutor's offices in states, territories, local governments, or tribal governments. The grants can be used to hire, retain, and train prosecutors or support staff. The federal share of the cost for a project cannot exceed 75 percent. The Attorney General may give preferential consideration to applications for hiring new prosecutors, rehiring those laid off due to budget cuts, and training support staff.
