Crime Gun Tracing Modernization Act of 2025 establishes electronic, searchable databases for firearm transactions.
The Crime Gun Tracing Modernization Act of 2025 amends section 923 of title 18, United States Code, to mandate the creation of electronic, searchable databases for firearm transactions. The National Tracing Center of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives must establish these databases within three years of enactment. These databases will include information on the importation, production, shipment, receipt, sale, or other disposition of firearms. They will be searchable by date, license number, and firearm descriptors but not by personal information.
