The NIH IMPROVE Act establishes the IMPROVE Initiative within the National Institutes of Health. This initiative aims to advance research on maternal health, reduce preventable causes of maternal mortality and severe maternal morbidity, and improve health outcomes for pregnant and postpartum women. It also seeks to identify risk factors and underlying biological mechanisms associated with maternal health issues, and target health disparities by implementing community-based interventions. Funding is authorized for fiscal years 2026 through 2031.
