Used Car Safety Recall Repair Act prohibits sale of used cars with open recalls.
The Used Car Safety Recall Repair Act aims to protect consumers by prohibiting the sale, lease, or loan of used motor vehicles with open recalls. The bill requires dealers to ensure any defect or noncompliance is remedied before selling the vehicle. If a manufacturer fails to provide a remedy, the dealer must be reimbursed at a rate of at least 1% of the vehicle's fair market value per month. The act takes effect one year after enactment.
