988 LGBTQ+ Youth Access Act of 2025

Introduced·9/17/25

The 988 LGBTQ+ Youth Access Act of 2025 directs the Secretary of Health and Human Services to allocate resources for LGBTQ+ youth support on the 988.

The 988 LGBTQ+ Youth Access Act of 2025 amends the Public Health Service Act to mandate the Secretary of Health and Human Services to dedicate resources for specialized services supporting LGBTQ+ youth on the 988 suicide prevention hotline. This includes establishing, re-establishing, operating, and maintaining these services, known as the Press 3 option or Integrated Voice Response (IVR). The bill highlights the disproportionate risk of suicide among LGBTQ+ youth, with 45 percent of high school students who seriously considered suicide in 2021 identifying as LGBTQ+.
