The bill requires the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation to test a model allowing blood transfusions to be paid separately from the Medicare.

The Improving Access to Transfusion Care for Hospice Patients Act of 2025 mandates the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation to establish and implement a model within one year of enactment. This model will allow blood transfusions for hospice care patients to be paid separately from the hospice all-inclusive per diem payment. The payment for these transfusions will be the amount that would apply under Medicare if the transfusion was not part of hospice care.
