The bill amends title 38, U.S. Code, to make permanent and codify the pilot program for use of contract physicians for disability examinations. It allows examinations for medical disability of applicants for benefits under laws administered by the Secretary to be made by persons other than employees of the Department. The bill also terminates the pilot program under section 504(a) of the Veterans' Benefits Improvements Act of 1996.
