Protecting Ratepayers Act mandates off-grid power and water for data centers.
The Protecting Ratepayers Act requires new and existing data centers to use off-grid power and water supplies. A data center must derive all energy from a source separate from the electric grid and all water from a source separate from the public water system. This applies to data centers with a power demand of 5 megawatts or more. The Act incorporates the President's Ratepayer Protection Pledge as law.
