The CLINIC Assistance Act establishes a grant program for accredited law schools to create attorney-supervised clinical programs, externships, or pro bono programs for law students. These programs aim to improve access to benefits under employee welfare benefit plans by providing legal representation in appeals of benefit denials, actions under section 502, and other civil enforcement actions. The Department of Labor's Employee Benefits Security Administration will coordinate with these programs to assist participants and beneficiaries in challenging denied benefit claims.
