The REDACT Act allows victims to sue the United States for damages if their personally identifiable information or personal or medical files are exposed in documents released under the Epstein Files Transparency Act. Victims can seek statutory damages, compensatory damages, attorney's fees, and injunctive relief. The United States waives sovereign immunity for such claims, which must be filed within five years of the victim's notice of the violation or the act's enactment, whichever is later.
