The AIR CARE for Vets Act of 2026 directs the Secretary of Veterans Affairs to establish a pilot program using four-dimensional functional lung imaging software to identify respiratory disorders and lung disease in veterans. The Secretary will lease the software from an eligible entity, defined as a developer of FDA-approved lung imaging software. The program will run for five years, after which the Secretary must submit a report to Congress evaluating its effectiveness. Funding is authorized at $5,000,000 annually for fiscal years 2027 through 2031.
