The United States Commission on an Open Society with Security Act of 2026 establishes a commission to study and recommend ways to balance security and public access to federal buildings. The commission will examine federal, governmental, and private security practices, building design, public space management, counterterrorism needs, and the effects of access on security, safety, and civil liberties. The commission will submit its final report to the President within two years, who will then transmit it to Congress. The commission will terminate 90 days after submitting its final report.
