DHS CANDOR Act establishes a policy for public communications within the Department of Homeland Security.

The DHS CANDOR Act amends the Homeland Security Act of 2002 to require a Department of Homeland Security-wide policy for public communications. This policy mandates that all Department personnel receive annual training on the acceptable uses of personal and official social media accounts. The Assistant Secretary for the Office of Public Affairs will serve as the oversight authority for all Department use of social media for public communication. The Office of Public Affairs shall maintain a list of all current Department social media accounts on a public-facing website of the Department.
